GERIF: Linking the economic benefits of inland waterways with those of the region
Rabot Dutilleul has joined three other construction, public works and environment management companies to form a special purpose entity known as the GERIF - Regional Inland Waterway Economic Interest Grouping to enable the voice of independent regional construction companies to be heard in the debate on the development of the future Seine North Europe Canal.
After a public consultation phase which ended in March 2007, Voies Navigables de France, the lead partner in the Seine North Europe Canal project, is currently studying ways to finance the 106 km of navigable waterways that will link Compiègne with Cambrai by 2013. The decision has been made in principle to form a public-private partnership.
To ensure that the economic and social spin-offs bring benefit to the regions through which the Seine North Europe Canal passes, and to the companies and employees in these areas, the members of the GERIF propose to develop four logistics platforms planned along the route at Marquion, Péronne, Nesle and Noyon. With their experience in developing logistics infrastructures such as the Delta 3 multimodal platform at Dourges, Rabot Dutilleul and its partners are ready to take on the task of developing the logistics platforms of the future Seine North Europe Canal.
